PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Portsmouth Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Thursday night.
Police dispatchers received a 911 call around 7:15 p.m. about a man who had been shot near the intersection of Race Street and Prentis Avenue, according to Detective Misty Holly.
At the scene, officers found the man, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower leg, that did not appear to be life-threatening. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment.
