18-year-old recovers from knife wound

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – The suspect in a Newport News stabbing was arrested at his home Sunday.

The victim, an 18-year-old man, is recovering from a knife wound to his back..

Newport News Police said the victim was involved in an argument with a 40-year-old man inside a residence located in the 1100 block of 33rd Street.

According to police, the victim was walking on 33rd Street towards Chestnut Avenue when the suspect followed him and sliced his back.

The victim was taken to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury, officers said.

Police located the suspect, Keith Wiggins, later the same day at his home in the 2400 block of West Avenue. He was charged with malicious wounding.
