Cheap Rabies Clinic Saturday in Norfolk

WAVY

NORFOLK,Va (WAVY) – In honor of Rabies Awareness Week, Norfolk Department of Public Health will offer a low cost rabies clinic this Saturday afternoon.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 27, the cost for vaccination will be $5. It will be held at the 830 Southampton Avenue parking lot at the intersection of Brambleton and Colley Avenues.

To receive the three-year vaccine, animals brought in must have a previous rabies certificate. If not, then a a one-year vaccine will be administered. All animals must be 12 weeks old, and cats have to be in carriers and dogs on leashes.

Last Friday, a fox bit two people in the Reserve neighborhood area of Virginia Beach. Animal control couldn’t confirm if the beast had rabies, but the actions were characteristic of a rabid creature because the fox attacked the humans unprovoked.

For more information on the clinic this weekend, call Norfolk Department of Public Health at 757-390-6557.
