RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The N.C. Highway Patrol says a 13-year-old boy waiting for a school bus at his home was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
A statement from the patrol said Keith Jones was standing near the roadway at his home around 7 a.m. Tuesday when a burgundy late 1980’s or early 1990’s Ford Crown Victoria struck him.
The patrol said Jones was taken to Wake Medical Center, where he died.
Jones attended Wendell Middle School.
Investigators said several pieces of vehicle where discovered at the scene, including a portion of the front grill and front right headlight casing.
The patrol is investigating.
