KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) — Police in Kill Devil Hills are trying to recover stolen firearms after several vehicle larcenies over the weekend.
Sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, multiple vehicles were broken into in the neighborhoods around W. 1st Street and W. Landing Drive, according to Sgt. J.C. Towler, Jr. with the Kill Devil Hills Police Department.
The suspect(s) stole cash, a six-foot surfboard, alcohol and a laptop. Additionally, two guns were stolen from vehicles in the 1500 block of Captain’s Lane. In each case, the victims said they’d left their vehicles unlocked, Towler said.
Police are most concerned about the firearm thefts. One was a Smith and Wesson .38 special Model 64 2″ stainless revolver with wood grips in a black soft holster. The second was a Bryco Arms Jennings J22 with a blue finish and black grips.
During the same time frame, several mailboxes in the W. 1st Street neighborhood were damaged. However, Towler said it is not yet known if the thefts and vandalism are related.
