NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 13-year-old boy is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed an 11-year-old.
Monday, at around 3:15 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Stafford Street for a stabbing involving two children. A preliminary investigation indicates the victim and a 13-year-old boy were in an argument when the teen stabbed the 11-year-old, said Norfolk Police.
Norfolk Public Schools said the argument started on the bus home from school.
The injured child was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for an injury that was not life-threatening.
The 13-year-old was charged with malicious wounding.
When WAVY.com asked Norfolk Public Schools spokeswoman, Karen Rose-Tanner, about a stabbing incident on a Lake Taylor Middle School bus, she sent the following reply:
Norfolk Public Schools is currently investigating an incident that occurred on a school bus this afternoon. This is a student disciplinary matter, and appropriate consequences will be administered.
