Man robs Rite Aid pharmacy in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police are searching for a man accused of robbing a Rite Aid pharmacy in Portsmouth, Friday morning.

According to Portsmouth Police, the subject entered the Rite Aid on the 5900 block of High Street West, at around 8:48 a.m. Detectives said the man went to the pharmacy and showed the employee a gun, before demanding prescription drugs and fleeing the scene on foot.

No one was hurt.

The crook is described as a white male with a blonde goatee. He is believed to be about 5’6 to 5’7 feet tall and weighs about 300 to 350 pounds.

On Monday, Portsmouth Police reported a robbery at the Walgreens located across the street from the Rite Aid. The subject’s description is very similar to the one in this case. However, police have not confirmed any relation to this case. You can find more on that story here.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Portsmouth Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Tipsters never have to give their name or testify in court. If a tipster’s information leads to an arrest they could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
