NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police are looking in Norfolk and Virginia Beach for a man suspected in a New York City murder.
Officers with the New York City Police Department responded to a 911 call on August 11 for a man shot inside a housing development in the 1400 block of Amsterdam Avenue. At the scene, a 48-year-old man who had been shot in the torso was found.
The victim, identified as Todd Wilson of New York City, was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made in the investigation, but a suspect has been developed: 29-year-old Bryan Dewayne Rogers. He is known to frequent the Norfolk and Virginia Beach areas.
Lt. John Grimple with the NYPD said Rogers is dating a girl from New York City and had taken a train there to visit her. On the day of the murder, Rogers and his girlfriend went to Manhattan for the day, and when they returned to the housing development, they were drunk.
Grimple said there was a Family Day being held at the housing development and Rogers was asked to leave an apartment. Instead, police say he shot Wilson in the back and left the scene.
Rogers has previous arrests in Virginia and Houston, Texas, according to Grimple.
Anyone with information about Rogers’ whereabouts is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1- 888 562-5887).
