NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police confirmed an auto-pedestrian crash in Norfolk Monday evening, during which a teenager received serious injuries.
The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Tidewater Drive and Brambleton Avenue. At the scene, rescue crews found an injured 16-year-old. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he remains in critical condition, according to police.
A preliminary investigation indicated the teen and two others were trying to cross the intersection when the teen ran in front of a Ford Ranger that was traveling south on Tidewater Drive.
Police said the vehicle was traveling on a green light. The driver stayed at the scene of the crash. Neither alcohol nor speed seem to be a factor in the crash, said police.
No others were injured during the incident.
