CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Detectives in Chesapeake are trying to identify the man caught on surveillance video robbing a bank Monday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the BB&T bank in the 1800 block of Greenbrier Parkway around 2 p.m., according to Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department.

At the scene, witnesses told police a white middle-aged man, wearing a green ball cap and green/tan shirt went inside the bank and handed the teller a note demanding cash. They said the suspect implied he had a weapon, but did not display one.

When the teller handed over money, the suspect fled the bank on foot, O’Sullivan said.

Detectives are actively investigating the crime and ask that anyone with information that could help them identify the suspect call the Crime Line: 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
