NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – An off-duty Norfolk Police officer jumped into action at the scene of a Sunday morning shooting.
According to police, a man was shot in the 3300 block of E. Princess Anne Road around 1:40 a.m. An off-duty officer in the area witnessed the incident and took the gunman into custody at the scene. The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Dominique Alston of Chesapeake. He was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Norfolk Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene, located the victim and transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
