Taylor Heinicke on record-setting pace

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Old Dominion quarterback Taylor Heinicke continues his record-setting pace. If he continues to play the way he is, Heinicke will finish in the top-ten of all-time college passers for yards and touchdowns.

This past weekend, Heinicke passed Tajh Boyd and Byron Leftwitch on the all-time passing yards list, and he’s in 15th place all-time for touchdown passes — just two touchdowns behind Russell Wilson.

“He’s been able to do it because he’s been very consistent from the time that he’s played,” coach Bobby Wilder said. “He’s built up a lot of trust with us and our system. As coaches we are not going to throw the ball 50 times like we did Saturday night unless he completes 70 percent of his passes and that’s what he does, he completes 70 percent of his passes.”

ODU hosts Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
