BLACKSBURG, Va. (WAVY) – It’s seemingly been a while since Virginia Tech has enjoyed some national attention, but after a stunner of a win on Saturday, the Hokies are back to a place they’re used to.
The Hokies are ranked number 17 in this week’s Associated Press top 25 poll, and check in at number 19 in the coach’s poll. That 22 straight years the Hokies have been ranked in the top 25 at some point during the college football season.
As is to be expected, head coach Frank Beamer is pretty much done celebrating the win over the weekend. “We had a great win over a national team. Our kids played great, our coaches coached great, but right now, we enjoy the win, we celebrate it, get it out of our mind, and now we need to get ready for East Carolina,” said Beamer at his weekly press conference on Monday.
The Pirates (1-1), who lost 33-23 at South Carolina on Saturday, will play in Lane Stadium at noon this weekend.
