Suspect wearing Spider-Man mask robs gas station

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Surveillance cameras captured an armed robber wearing a Spider-Man mask pointing a firearm at a clerk and demanding money.

Portsmouth Police detectives said the robbery suspect entered the BP gas station in the 3600 block of High Street just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 31 and went straight to the register.

The female clerk complied with the suspect’s demands and placed an undisclosed amount of cash into a plastic bag. The subject then fled the store, heading toward Western Branch Boulevard.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Anyone with information about this armed robbery is asked to call the Portsmouth Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Tipsters never have to give their name or testify in court. If a tipster’s information leads to an arrest they could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
