NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police are trying to identify a man who they say is responsible for a hit-and-run crash last month.

At about 7:50 p.m. on August 26, surveillance video captured a man, who looked to be wearing a security guard uniform, getting into a dark-colored vehicle  and backing out of a parking space outside the Wal-Mart at 6111 Jefferson Avenue.

Police say the man struck a parked vehicle as he reversed, and then left the scene without notifying the owner or leaving a note.

The suspect appeared to be a white man in his 40’s. Anyone who can identify him is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
