NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man remained hospitalized Monday after Norfolk police said he was assaulted near Old Dominion University early Sunday morning.
Officials received a call around 1 a.m. regarding an assault in the 1200 block of West 41st Street in Norfolk. Norfolk Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found the victim unconscious. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, for what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.
Norfolk Police said witnesses stated the victim was assaulted by two unknown black men. No further description was given to police.
University officials said the crime happened outside the campus jurisdiction, so an alert was not sent out to students. While officials are aware of the assault, they did not confirm if the victim is a student.
A man who said he is the victim’s roommate reported that the victim is a sophomore at ODU.
