CAMDEN COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) – Students at two Camden County schools started their weekend early, unexpectedly.

Camden County High School and Camtech High School had a 9 a.m. dismissal Friday because of a power outage, according to Anita Cuthrell, the assistant to the Superintendent.

Bonita Billingsley Harris with Dominion Virginia Power confirmed a transformer failed. She said the repair isn’t expected to be completed until the afternoon, so the school system decided to send students and staff home.

Buses are on their way to the schools to pick up the students, Cuthrell said.
