Police seek identity of attempted ATM thief

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake police are trying to identify a person who tried to break into an ATM last month.

The incident happened August 1, around 2 a.m. in the 700 block of North Battlefield Boulevard. Police say the estimated amount of damage to the machine was $1,500.

The suspect had a backpack and what appeared to be a tattoo of a star on his left bicep.
