NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk’s health department has lifted a swim advisory in East Beach.
Water samples between Baypoint Drive and 24th Bay Street had revealed bacteria levels exceeded state water quality standards, according to Brian Knight, Norfolk’s environmental health supervisor.
On Friday, the water was deemed safe to swim in.
Swimmers who chose to go into the water affected by the swimming advisory will put themselves at a higher risk to catch a gastrointestinal illness.
