CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WAVY) – It’s not enough that head coach Mike London will be facing the team he lead to a national championship only five years ago. It’s not enough the University of Virginia will play two quarterbacks of their own.
On Saturday, the Wahoos welcome two quarterbacks who once donned the Cavalier uniform. University of Richmond redshirt senior Michael Rocco lead the 2011 Cavaliers to an 8-5 record and an appearance in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, while Redshirt senior Michael Strauss redshirted for London’s first team in 2010, and transferred to Richmond the following summer.
While both quarterbacks are sure to expect a solid Cavaliers defense (see five sacks versus UCLA), they might also get an earful from one Kevin Parks. “I’m gonna say a couple of things to them, I’m gonna joke with them and stuff like that,” said UVA’s senior running back, all in good fun, of course, “They are good friends of mine, we’ll get some jokes in.”
As for London’s current crop of gunslingers, it’s not determined yet who will see the field first; redshirt sophomore Greyson Lambert or sophomore Matt Johns.
Lambert threw two interceptions for touchdowns after completing his first eight passes against the Bruins on Saturday, while Johns, a practice squad player on a week ago, threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns in place of Lambert.
