Crash causes light rail delay in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The light rail trains in Norfolk are back on schedule following a crash at the Ballentine station Tuesday.

According to Tom Holden with Hampton Roads Transit, a vehicle crashed into a crossing gate. HRT crews had to cut off power to the track while they made repairs.

The accident was reported just before noon and the track was re-energized about 15 minutes later, Holden said.

There is no word on the driver’s condition or if any charges will be filed.
