NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WAVY) — The U.S. Coast Guard and National Park Service rescued an entangled sea turtle in the Oregon Inlet Sunday.

A boater near the Bonner Bridge informed Coast Guard Sector North Carolina that a loggerhead sea turtle was caught in a line and dragging a plastic bucket. Watchstanders from Station Oregon Inlet, along with a NPS agent, responded.

The crew was able to free the turtle. The NPS agent collected data and determined the turtle was in good health, so it was released.
