Details unclear in death of Norfolk man in Fort Bragg, N.C.

Fort Bragg, N.C. (WAVY) – A Norfolk man died on or about August, 27th on post at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, according to WAVY.com affiliate WNCN.com. The man has been identified as 23-year-old Private First Class Lance D. Cuffee of Norfolk.

According to a press release the Army sent to WNCN,com, Cuffee joined the Army in January 2013 and was a paratrooper with the XVIII Airborne Corps.

“In times of tragedy like this, words do not do justice to adequately express the grief and sorrow that accompany the loss of a fellow Sky Dragon,” said Lt. Col.  Erik Kober, Cuffee’s battalion commander. “We extend our deepest condolences to all those who were close to Pvt. 1st Class Cuffee, and our thoughts and prayers are with those family and friends as we mourn his loss together.”

The cause of Cuffee’s death is not immediately clear and is under investigation.
