According to a police spokeswoman, at 11:41 a.m. a man entered the Bank of America in the Haygood Shopping Center in the 1000 block of Independence Blvd., pulled out a handgun and demanded money.
The man left the area with an undisclosed amount of money in a stolen vehicle that was later found by police at Pembroke Crossing Apartments.
Police describe the suspect as a light-skinned black male, around 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing dark clothes, a black jacket, blue jeans, a baseball hat and a mask.
No one was injured during the robbery.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. The FBI and the financial industry are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone with information leading to an arrest.
