Detectives seek identity of motel robbery suspects

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Detectives are trying to find two men who robbed a Newport News motel early Thursday morning.

Around 12:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Comfort Inn & Suites along J Clyde Morris Boulevard for a report of a commercial robbery, according to Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department.

At the scene, to female employees said two men entered the motel lobby and asked one of them a question. When the employee replied, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and jumped over the counter. The second suspect followed.

The suspect with the gun demanded money from the motel register, and after getting it, the two suspects fled the business.

Suspect #1 was described as a black male, 5’ 6”, early to mid-twenties, medium built, and wearing a red/maroon hooded sweatshirt drawn close to his face. Suspect #2 was described as a black male, 5’8” to 5’ 9”, and in his early to mid-twenties.
