SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Suffolk confirm a single-vehicle crash involving injuries Wednesday evening.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of Route 58 (Portsmouth Boulevard). A 911 caller said the crash site was just before the weigh scales, so police responded and discovered a Honda Accord that had left the roadway.

The vehicle had collided with a tree, partially ejecting the 27-year-old female driver, according to Diana Klink with Suffolk police. Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews medically assessed and treated the woman before she was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Klink said the woman’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The crash briefly closed one lane of Portsmouth Boulevard. Klink said the vehicle will be cleared from the scene later Wednesday night, so as not to further disrupt traffic.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated. No further information has been released, at this time.
