Oceanfront street closures planned for Sunday

Oceanfront crowd concerns

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — If you’re heading to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront this weekend, you won’t be alone.

Thousands of people are expected in the resort city over Labor Day weekend, and not only for the holiday. The Annual Rock-N-Roll half marathon is planned for Sunday, and the American Music Festival will be happening Friday through Sunday.

In preparation for the large crowds and an increased traffic volume, the Virginia Beach Police Department is planning strategic street closures on Sunday. See the full list by clicking here.

Police recommend people visiting the resort area, especially the handicapped, plan safe transportation in advance, allowing for extra time to navigate people and detours.
