NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A Norfolk man is charged with committing 15 violations associated with child pornography.
Police say they received a report on July 2 about a possible child pornography case. Detectives thoroughly investigated the report and on August 17, they arrested 35-year-old Eric Downey of Dickson Drive. He was charged with two counts unlawful filming, two counts production of child pornography, use of communications device to facilitate crime against children and ten counts of possession of child pornography.
Neighbors of Downey told WAVY.com they don’t know him, but are still surprised such alleged activities could happen in their neighborhood.
“I’m very shocked it would happen in our neighborhood,” June Meyer said. “I have no tolerance for anything like that, and they should be punished to the oomph degree, as far as I’m concerned. That’s terrible.”
“It’s a nice neighborhood,” Mike Brumback said. “Things like that don’t happen around here.”
Downey is being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond. His preliminary hearing in Norfolk Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court is scheduled for September 22.
