NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — NATO ships are starting to arrive in Norfolk to take part in a military readiness exercise with U.S. forces.
10 On Your Side got a sneak peek on board a Turkish ship. It’s the first Turkish warship to visit the U.S. in 15 years. During its visit, Turkish Sailors will get a chance to enjoy the Hampton Roads community before going back to the sea for training.
“We just completed a fleet exercise along with our Canadian allies, who have sailed down with us from Halifax, Nova Scotia,” a Turkish official said.
A German ship is already in Norfolk, and a Canadian ship will arrive later in the week.
