HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Surveillance cameras at a Hampton 7-Eleven captured clear pictures of a robbery suspect and police say that video helped their case.
Hampton Police say 26,000 people viewed the video the day they released it to the public. Crime Line tips helped them identify the suspect as Courtney D. Thomas. Police arrested Thomas and charged him with robbery and burglary while armed.
Police say Thomas walked into the 7-Eleven in the 800 block of East Little Back River Road just after 2 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. He displayed a knife and demanded money. When he got what he wanted, the suspect fled on foot, according to Cpl. Mary Shackelford with the Hampton Police Division.
There were no customers in the store at the time of the crime.
