Local sports complex ranks top in the country

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Connect Sports magazine named the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton one of the top amateur basketball venues in the country.

The publication turned to top amateur basketball officials for help judging the best. Stan Quash, AAU Director of Basketball said this about the local sportsplex, “Eight floors in one facility. To the east of the facility is Virginia Beach, 45 minutes away, and to the west is historic Williamsburg/Jamestown.”

The Boo Williams Sportsplex is a 135,000 square-foot, $13.5-million sports facility. It’s specifically designed for amateur athletic competitions such as basketball, indoor field hockey, volleyball, and more. It opened in 2008.

Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida ranks number one.
