HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Fire ripped through a Hampton home Wednesday, leaving two residents displaced.
Just before noon, firefighters were dispatched to the first block of Margaret Drive for a reported structure fire, according to Assistant Chief Jeffrey Pereira with the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue.
At the scene, crews found a two-story home and attached garage engulfed in flames. Pereira said fire and smoke were venting from the attic space above the garage and then spread into the attic space above the second floor of the home.
It took firefighters about 45 minutes to fully extinguish the flames.
Pereira said the house received extensive fire and smoke damage, and two residence were displaced from the home.
Hampton Fire Marhsal personnel are still investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
