WILLIAMSBURG, Va.- (WAVY)  The College of William and Mary announced on Tuesday that 79-year-old Zable Stadium will undergo a $27 million renovation.

The renovation, which will be paid for with private funds, will include a new press box, a new upper deck, suites and more bathrooms.

“Zable Stadium is a neat place to play, it’s a great place to come to a game,” coach Jimmye Laycock said. “Everybody knows we’ve got to move on, we’ve got to improve and we are going to improve it.

The upgrades are not expected to affect the Zable’s capacity, which is currently 12,259.

The new and improved stadium is expected to be ready for the 2016 season.
