DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — The Dare County Narcotics Task Force took a Manteo man into custody Monday after investigating him for drug activity.
The vehicle of 29-year-old James Woodrow Simmons was under investigation for narcotics activity when deputies spotted it on Roanoke Island Monday. Task force officers found marijuana on the Simmons and seized some cash, according to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office.
Simmons was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana. He was also served outstanding warrants for possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, sell or deliver marijuana, and maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place to keep a controlled substance.
Simmons was released from custody on an $8,000 bond.
