Suspects may have escaped through movie theater roof

FRANKLIN, Va. (WAVY) – Police are searching for two suspects they believe escaped through a movie theater’s roof.

A Franklin officer patrolling in the 1300 block of Armory Drive around 5 a.m. Monday spotted two people behind the old movie theater on Armory. According to Capt. Timothy Whitt, investigators believe the pair broke into the theater through a back door.

Additional officers arrived and set up around the perimeter of the building. They entered the movie theater a few hours later and found no one inside. The access to the roof was open, so investigators think the men may have escaped that way, Capt. Whitt told WAVY.com.

The investigation continues.
