BLACKSBURG, Va. (WAVY) – The latest depth chart released by the Virginia Tech football program lists Marshawn Williams as a co-starter alongside J.C. Coleman.
Williams, a true freshman out of Phoebus High School in Hampton, had to sit out a portion of fall camp after an off season hernia surgery. Williams was medically cleared last week, and was listed number one alongside Coleman, who’s out of Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake.
As noted by the Roanoke Times, the move is not only because of the impressive speed and power shown by Williams over the spring, but also likely due to the health status of Trey Edmunds, who’s still recovering from a broken leg he suffered at the end of last season.
The Hokies now get ready for their season and home-opener against the College of William & Mary on Saturday. Kickoff is 4:00 p.m. in Lane Stadium.
