EASTERN SHORE, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police have closed part of Route 13 in Tasley while they clear the scene of an overturned tractor-trailer Monday.
Just before 5:30 a.m., a trooper responded to a 911 call about a single-vehicle crash on southbound Route 13 (Lankford Highway), according to Corinne Geller with Virginia State Police.
At the scene, the trooper learned a tractor-trailer hauling car batteries had run off the left side of the road and overturned in the median. The driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and a HazMat team was called to the scene because some of the car batteries were damaged.
Geller said driver fatigue was a factor in what caused the crash. There has been no word on if charges are being filed against the driver.
The southbound lanes of Route 13 will be closed until at least 5 p.m. while the scene is cleared. Until then, traffic will be re-routed.
