NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – If you’ve lived in Hampton Roads for a while, you may think you know your home and how to protect it from flooding.

FEMA changed the official flood zones in Norfolk a couple of years ago. They recently changed them again, because of appeals. Now, some people who didn’t have to have flood insurance before may have to carry it now.

The city is holding a presentation Monday night, specifically for downtown property owners. They can learn more about any new insurance coverage they may need.

If you’re interested in attending, the public meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Scope Meeting Hall, at 201 E. Brambleton Avenue.
