NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Not only can customers traveling from Newport News now book flights with PEOPLExpress through March of next year, they can also use the airline to travel to Orlando, Fla.

On Monday, PEOPLExpress announced it has opened bookings through the holiday season and beyond. The company also announced that on October 16 it will expand to Orlando, the eight destination the airline services to from Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport.

“People have been very receptive and supportive of our service from the beginning,” PEOPLExpress executive Jeff Erickson. “Now we’re delighted to add an additional destination to fill a void in the market with a fun, creative and innovative approach to air travel, dispelling the myth that low air fares have to mean low service or an impersonal experience.”

PEOPLExpress launched service in June and has carried about 40,000 customers on more than 450 flights. It currently services Newark, N.J., Boston, Pittsburgh, West Palm Beach, Fla., Atlanta, New Orleans and St. Petersburg, Fla.

Since its inaugural flights, PEOPLExpress has carried nearly 40,000 customers on more than 450 flights.

Tickets are on sale at www.flypex.com or by calling toll free (844) 4-FLYPEX.
