NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A woman was charged by police after they say she caused a two-vehicle crash in Norfolk Monday morning.
At around 11:25 a.m., emergency dispatchers received a 911 call about a vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of Carolina Avenue and Colonial Avenue, according to Norfolk police.
When rescue crews arrived at the scene, they had to extract a man from an overturned van. He, a passenger, and the driver were both taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
A blue, four-door Volkswagen was the other vehicle involved in the crash. The female driver of that vehicle was also taken to a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police believe the Volkswagen was traveling west on Carolina Avenue when the driver ran a stop sign and hit the van, which was traveling south on Colonial Avenue. The Volkswagen driver has been charged with failure to obey a stop sign, according to police.
No further information has been released.
