NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY)- Scott Fahey, the starting center for Christopher Newport University’s football team, says he knows his team is good. They want to be great.

The Captains tied the school record with an 8-2 mark in 2013. It still wasn’t enough to make the playoffs, which should give plenty of motivation to the upper-classmen. “They felt they were worthy and that’s a disappointment, so maybe they can use that as motivation,” said Captains head coach Matt Kelchner.

Kelchner, though, is taking a different approach. “I kind of look at is as it’s a new year, a new start, a new team and what’s the past is the past,” he said, “Let’s look forward.”

The Captains will now look forward to Sept. 6, when they open at home against rival Salisbury.
