NAGS HEAD, Va. (WAVY) — A young boy was seriously injured Friday evening, after being hit by a vehicle. Police say he is recovering, as of Monday.
Around 6:30 p.m., a 12-year-old boy and his father were crossing South Virginia Dare Trail in the 7700 block, according to Nags head Police Chief Brinkley. The pair were using the crosswalk and were in the westbound, outside lane when they were hit by a 2013 Hyundai.
The child received serious injuries. He was treated by Dare County Emergency Medical Services and flown to a hospital in Norfolk. Brinkley said the boy was discharged from the hospital on Monday.
Police say the driver was a 23-year-old from Wanchese. Police have not said if he was charged or not.
