NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man was injured Sunday when he crashed a moped into a guardrail on Kempsville Road in Norfolk.
According to a press release from Norfolk police, the man was riding northbound in the 1300 block of Kempsville Road when the moped struck the guardrail. Medics took the man to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries. Police say the man was conscious and breathing when he was transported.
Monday morning, Cpl. Melinda Wray with Norfolk Police said the victim was listed in stable condition and is expected to recover.
Police determined the driver fell asleep. Neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the crash. The driver has been charged with failure to maintain proper control and reckless driving.
