HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Detectives have taken into custody the man suspected of killing a Hampton teenager Tuesday night.

Morgan Troy Taylor, 22, of Hampton was arrested Thursday night and charged with homicide and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to Corporal Mary Shackelford with the Hampton Police Division.

So far, detectives believe the victim, 17-year-old Devin Harrison, got into a Nissan Altima in the 100 block of Bonwood Road Tuesday before he was shot. Taylor was already inside the vehicle and the two got into an altercation, which allegedly led to Taylor shooting Harrison, Shackelford said.

After being shot, Harrison got out of the car and ran to the 1800 block of Copperfield Road, where he was found dead around 7:45 p.m.

Shackelford said that investigators believe Harrison and Taylor knew each other and that the incident was not random.

No further information has been released. Police are still asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
