VIRGINIA (WAVY) – Groups have come together to dedicate a week in September to raising awareness of the need for diapers in Virginia.

The week of Sept. 8 to Sept. 14 has been declared Diaper Need Awareness Week.

According to a release from Hope Charitable Services, the state has five diaper banks which are part of the National Diaper Bank Network. The release states the Great Hampton Roads Diaper Bank is receiving requests for more than 90,000 diapers a month, but is able to meet about 15,000 to 20,000 per month.

Locally, a diaper bank is located in Portsmouth at Hope Charitable Services-Greater Hampton Roads Diaper Bank. Click here for more information and to learn more.
