Suffolk intersection reopened after fixing downed cables

Road closed generic

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — An intersection in Suffolk reopened late Tuesday evening after being closed because of power lines downed by a tractor-trailer.

Diana Klink with the city of Suffolk said the truck clipped cable lines that crossed the roadway at the intersection of East Constance Road and Myrtle Street around 4:45 p.m.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews, police, Dominion Virginia Power crews and Verizon crews all responded to the scene to ensure safety and make repairs.

Klink said no one was injured, but police are investigating the cause of the accident.
