SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) —  An 18-year-old in Suffolk was arrested Monday morning after allegedly chasing after a man with a gun and then assaulting a police officer.

Around 8:30 a.m., an officer responded to the 6000 block of Camellia Drive after a report of shots fired from a woman chasing a man with a firearm in her hand, according to Diana Klink with the city of Suffolk. Witnesses told police they heard several gunshots.

The officer encountered a woman matching witness descriptions, and Klink said she resisted arrest and tried to run away. In the process, police said the suspect kicked the officer in the face.

The woman was identified as Tramaine Mone Adams, arrested and charged with assault and battery of an officer, brandishing a firearm, discharging a firearm within 100 feet of a road and resisting lawful arrest.

The officer was not injured during the assault, Klink said.
