CAMDEN, N.C. (WAVY) – Part of Highway 158 in Camden, North Carolina was closed Tuesday due to a natural gas leak, but has since reopened.
According to the Camden County Sheriff’s office, Highway 158 was closed between Upton Road and NC 343. The Sheriff’s office said the leak was located at the Track 1 Restaurant/Hairways Salon/Vineyard Christian Church business strip. The businesses were evacuated, as was the Precious Gifts Educational Center.
According to Sheriff Tony Perry, a company was installing a new sign and hit a four-inch main line around 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Highway 158 reopened to traffic just before 3 p.m .
