HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police have identified the 17-year-old who was shot and killed Tuesday night in Hampton as Devin Harrison.

Around 7:45 p.m., emergency dispatchers received several 911 calls about a shooting in the 1800 block of Copperfield Road, according to a Hampton Police Division release.

When officers arrived at the scene, near the intersection with Lynnhaven Drive, they found 17-year-old Harrison, who appeared to have suffered a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Aren Floryanzia, a friend of Harrison’s, told WAVY.com, “He was a jokester. From the time I knew him, every time he said something he’d make me laugh. I don’t know why, it was just funny. He wasn’t the type of guy to be up in something like this.”

Investigators have not released any suspect or motive information at this time. They are asking anyone with information that could help the investigation to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
