Narcotics investigation leads to two arrests in OBX

DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — The Dare County Narcotics Task Force made two arrests last Friday related to local distribution of heroin.

Deputies with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop in Manteo as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and distribution of heroin in the county, according to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard.

A quantity of heroin was seized and the following arrests were made:

  • Joseph Stephen Jett, 20, of Edenton was charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin, conspire to sell or deliver heroin, and maintain a vehicle/dwelling to keep a controlled substance.
  • Anna Catherine Baggett, 19, of Edenton was charged with possession with the intent to manufacture and conspire to sell or deliver heroin.

Jett and Baggett were both committed to the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of bond. Hoggard said additional charges will be presented to the Dare County Grand Jury.
